Default Mitsubishi Eclipse Ralliart Concept

Mitsubishi Eclipse Ralliart Concept
Mitsubishi’s Cypress, Calif. design center conceived the Eclipse Ralliart to showcase the new coupe’s performance potential. Horsepower is up to an estimated 400, thanks to a modified 4G63 turbocharged four-cylinder transplanted from the Evo VIII. In a nod to Eclipses past, the car also gets the Lancer’s all-wheel-drive system. Other changes include carbon fiber exterior panels and clutch, 20-inch wheels, custom exhaust, coil-over suspension, Brembo brakes and a racing-inspired interior.

If Mitsubishi fixed the front end so it’s more aerodynamic looking, then I think they would have a good selling car. I don't like that square grill. Also, the seats look a little economy. Other then that, it's a great looking car.

It's still too %&$%^#%@#$ SMALL..... how does a car that small weigh THAT much... I dont get it....

that said, I like the look of this one better then the current production model....i think this one is a bit more aggressive looking not to mention that it looks better period...still not a fan of that fugly grill either...

i think the 20s are a little over kill, 16 or 17 inchers would be better, both for weight and rotational mass

i dont forsee this ever hitting production, unless they charged a buttload for it. they wouldnt want t compete with the V6 GTs...

also, the current 4g63 powered cars arent making anywhere near 400 stock hp...and they certainly wouldnt step up another car without putting that in the Evo first.

That engine already is in the Evo VIII.....not to mention they have a version of the Evo VIII in the UK throwin down like 420hp as a special edition thats insane! So I do agree that this may not see production here in the USA, but I could see it being produced elsewhere....and maybe, maybe as a possible limited edition production here in the USA

well, it is no secret that the most important performance market to "win over" is the US market. i know that the 4g63 is used in the evo..its been used in the evo forever. i believe that the Evolution X is predicted to have somewhere near that, but like the current USM models, they are watered down a bit compared to what you wil see in foreign magazines, and programs like top gear.

my point is that if your flagship performance car (evo IX) in the USM only has 286 hp and 289 tq,they arent going to suddenly put a modified version of the same engine in the lesser model. it would be like offering a viper with 400hp, and a charger with a V10 and 500hp, they would be stepping on their own toes.

Normally, I HATE the new Eclipse. From it's slow times, to the ugly grill. From horrible weight, to the hideous rear end.

but...

This thing is bad ***! The spoiler takes my mind off of the rear end. The grill is changed, and looks a whole lot better. That's the grill that should have been on there in the first place.

400 HP and AWD definately makes me like this car. But unless the carbon fiber really lowered the weight, I dunno.

Overall I love this car though. I wouldn't mind having it sit in my drive way.

I think with 400hp & AWD, the performance on this car is drastically improved. Not to mention, the weight probably helps it now rather then hinders it.

The current production model Eclipse GT is about a second slower then the SRT-4 despite weighing 400-600lbs more and NO turbo.....so throw in twice the HP and AWD.....I'm in!

I'd buy one....but honestly....they are too small. I test drove 2....and I couldnt sit in it comfortably. The SRT-4 and the Lancer both have more room....

I like it. It looks better than the last model they had out. I'm still partial to the 97-99 model that I had. But with that one in the pic being red and having the wing and those rims it slightly reminds me of mine.
