Default Fuel/starting problems

I have a 2003 2500 Cummins HO diesel. It's been having some problems starting. I've had to plug it in and it's still starting hard. Sometimes I have to give it a shot of ether to start. I know that's not good for it too. I think it might be the fuel transfer pump but I'm not sure. Where is the fuel transfer pump located? How much do one of these run about? Is there anything else it could be besides the transfer pump? Thanks, I appreciate your help.

Default RE: Fuel/starting problems

if the grid heater turns on when you give it ether it will blow the intake off the motor. The transfer pump is in the gas tank.take it to a dodge dealer or cummins dealer. The fuel pressure in the rail is about 23,000 psi.that will cut your finger off if you mess up.
