Default Fuel Economy

I just bought a 2000 Dodge Ram Sport 4x4 5.9 liter. I love the truck.I Know this has probably been asked before but What all can i do to get better fuel economy. I'm putting on dual exhaust and K&N this week. Right now im getting about 11.5 miles to the gallon on a tank of gas. 28 gallon tank and getting about 280-300 miles off of each one. I heard a chip might help. Any ideas?

The link below is a very long read
but there are dozens of 'real' ways of improving MPG of a Ram
but it is usually by a few % at a time.

https://dodgeforum.com/m_447500/tm.htm

The 'biggest bang for the buck' modification
is to pick the best low rolling resistance tires
when it comes time to replace.
In the meantime, use higher air pressure in the tires you have,
and be thankful that as your tread depth wears out
the rolling resistance goes down and your MPG will go up 'naturally'.

In winter time, depending on your climate
you can usually run several months without your clutch fan
which is good for about half a MPG improvement,
allows the engine to warm up faster
and is slightly quieter.

Some cheap aerodynamic mods can help your highway MPG.
You can gain as much as 2 MPG at 75 mph.

Don't fall for the commonest mistake,
thinking that a aftermarket air intake will improve MPG;
save that money for mods that work.

I have seena number of full fluid changes to synthetic which showed dyno proven 5-10% gains in Hp and Trq. That inprovement in power shows how much the friction is decreased, which if your driving habits do not change, should show an increase in MPG. The items will pay for themselves, not to mention the extra protection you are providing in your vehicle.

+1 I saw that on Trucks, they did that on a Dak 4.7. But i agree with that totally.
