Who Is Your Favorite NASCAR Driver?
#42
RE: Who Is Your Favorite NASCAR Driver?
interesting story from the past.
during the early 1970's, Jody Ridley dominated the dirt tracks across the south in his blue Ford Falcon with a big block 42?. As a wide eyed teenager, i used to watch my neighbors race against him at Dixie Speedway's dirt track in Woodstock Ga. Ridley moved up to Grand National (saturday race) and then Winston Cup (sunday race). from wiki- His career statistics include 140 career starts, 1 win, 7 top fives, 56 top tens, and 2 top ten points finishes (5th in 1981, and 7th in 1980). He also won rookie of the year in 1980. He drove on a very very low budget team, and i read somewhere they ran all of 1980 with only 1 car and a few engines? not sure about this. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity in a big money team.
He returned to short track racing in the late 80's, again dominating the All-Pro series, winning several championships. He racked up well over 500 short track wins. impressive.
from Nascar/Ford...
• 1971 -- Ford Racing suspends all racing support and involvement when its engineering staffs are forced to turn its attention to meeting vehicle safety and emission regulations. • 1981 -- Ford returns to NASCAR in order to regain a connection with younger buyers the company believes it is losing. However, the timing isn't exactly right. It coincides with the recession and billion-dollar losses at Ford. Still, the company scores seven wins in 31 Cup events, led by Neil Bonnett, who wins three times. Ford's highest finisher in the standings that year is Jody Ridley, who finishes fifth with one win and 18 top-10s in 31 starts.

Jeff Gordon is my favorite. One of the best of all time. People are just pissed at him because he isn't from the south, and he is a better driver than Dale Earnhardt.
I really don't know why people hate on him so much. They act like Junior is the best driver ever, even though he only has 17 career wins, compared to Gordon's 77. Junior will neverbe in the same class as his father or Jeff.

Airwolf you sounded just like him makin excuses and whining bout it. LOL. Man I was good seeing Gordon eat the wall (seeing he wasnt hurt)
Stewart and junior for me. As far as the comment about why there's not that many dodge fans, that's just plain stupid, almost as bad as going for a sponsor, I'm not going for kk now that he's driving the bud car. I dont go for jr because of tchevy.

First, I am a Richard Petty fan. Second, I am a pontiac fan. Thus, with both being retired, I kinda follow gordon. Love him or hate him, he is a heck of a driver, probably be one of the best ever. Jr. isn't that good in my opinion, and for Dale sr., we'll just leave it alone.

RE: Who Is Your Favorite NASCAR Driver?
I love the dodge boys racing team! I wish the poll had robby gordon on it beacuse he's my actual fav. How can you not like someone with Jack Daniels written across his chest? My next choice is Kasey Kahne so I choose him for the poll. like im gonna waste my vote on other? naw! i gotta give a shotout to my Dodge Boys![X(][:-]
