Jeremy Mayfield's No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge will carry a special orange HEMI paint scheme for this weekend's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series event at Kansas Speedway. The paint scheme is running to promote the success of the new HEMI engine available in many of Chrysler Group's vehicles including the 2004 Dodge Ram, Dodge Durango, Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300C. The special paint scheme will mark the first return of the HEMI brand to NASCAR Cup Series racing since the early 70s!

The December '04 issue reports that Dodge, Evernham and Penske are pressuring NASCAR to allow the Hemi next year.

DCX has been down this road before in the 1960's with the hemi and the Superbird. Once they started to dominate, NASCAR had a "change of heart" motivated by money from Ford and GM. Don't be surprised to see it happen again....
