BAM Racing gearing up - three car team in 2005:

BAM Racing has two entries in Sunday's Ford 400. Veteran Ken Schrader, who has made the field for every race this season, once again will drive the #49, and Larry Foyt will try to qualify a second Dodge, the #70. Joining Schrader for testing recently at Homestead were Foyt, son of the legendary A.J. Foyt, and Klaus Graf, a road-racing German with little experience on ovals. Graf spun out and crashed, "so we made the determination not to even try to qualify with him," Tony Morgenthau said. The mishap didn't change the Morgenthaus' plans for 2005 — they hope to campaign Schrader and Foyt full time and Graf for a partial season. "The reason for (three cars) is not an egomania thing," Tony Morgenthau said. "The real reason is the testing. NASCAR is very strict on the number of tests you can run on their tracks. It's seven per car. So if you have two cars, you can test at 14 tracks." Sponsorship is in place for Schrader, with Schwan's Home Service, the home-delivery service of the Schwan Food Company, signed on for two more years. As for the Foyt and Graf cars, Tony Morgenthau said the team is negotiating with "about four multibillion-dollar companies that have never been in NASCAR," and a possible international sponsor for Graf. "There's a lot of interest in Europe about his driving ability that he can go from the Porsche Supercup cars to a NASCAR car," Tony Morgenthau said.
