#7 Crew Chief leaves? UPDATE 3: hearing that the #7 Ultra Motorsports crew chief, Gene Nead and the team have parted ways.(2-3-2004)
UPDATE: Jimmy Spencer's crew chief Gene Nead will travel with the #7 team to Daytona, however he will be moving on following the Daytona 500. Nead didn't say what his next move will be.(PRN's Garagepass radio report)(2-5-2004)
UPDATE 2: now hearing the majority of the Cup shop personnel, not at the track, have been laid off.(2-8-2004)
UPDATE 3: Jim Smith and Ultra Motorsports will shut down the #7 Nextel Cup team after the Daytona 500. Although the possibility exists for Ultra to run additional Cup races, Smith says he's turning his full attention to the Craftsman Truck Series. "I'm not going to run this team out of my own pocket anymore," Smith says. "Half the team has left, the other half has been laid off, and anyone left over we'll keep to work on other stuff.
