Rusty's New Crew!!!
#2 Penske Team changes Pit Crew..again: Penske Racing South has undergone some personnel changes that will be in effect this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, ThatsRacin.com has learned. Bill Wilburn, who served as driver Rusty Wallace's crew chief last season and moved into the role of shop foreman this season for the #77 Dodges and driver Brendan Gaughan, will return to his old role changing tires for Wallace's team, sources confirmed Wednesday. Wilburn will continue working with the #77 during the week, but will take over as front tire changer on Wallace's team this weekend, sources said. Wallace's team has tried several different people on its pit crew since the season started and decided to return to an experienced veteran. Wilburn began his career in the NASCAR Dash Series and his Cup career dates back to the Cliff Stewart Racing Team in 1982. Wilburn was part of Stewart's 1984 effort that helped Wallace win the rookie-of-the-year title. He has worked with Mike Curb Motorsports and Hendrick Motorsports and in full- and part-time efforts at Penske since 1992. In addition to Wilburn's change, Aaron Oakley, an aerodynamics specialist with Ryan Newman's #12 Dodges, will move into the spotter's role for the team this weekend, replacing Penske Racing South general manager John Erickson in that position, sources said. Oakley worked with Erickson last weekend at Las Vegas in the spotters' stand and the team was impressed with his performance, sources said.(ThatsRacin.com)(3-10-2004)

RE: Rusty's New Crew!!!
More Changes at the #2: Unhappy with his pit crew's performance in Sunday's race, driver Rusty Wallace and crew chief Larry Carter elected to make a swap of rear-tire changers with Penske teammate Brendan Gaughan's team. Rich Macco from Gaughan's team went to Wallace's team for the remainder of the race and Cole Chitty from Wallace's #2 team moved to Gaughan's #77.(ThatsRacin.com)(3-22-2004)
