Is that one of the older Lightnings. I ran one of those with the Coronet one day, I don't think the guy was real happy with the results. He even picked the fight. Oh well.

LOL, yeah its an old lightning. They aren't super fast but they are a blast to drive. They run anywhere from 14.8ish to 15.5ish in "stock" trim. Mine just happens to be one of the faster ones in the 14.8-14.9 range. Every now and then i'll line up with my friend's '70 440 cuda and yeah, its not pretty, lol.

that seems awfully fast for a stock ford, non-lightning

...too fast, I see a red flag on the horizon...

It is a Lightning.

I must ask the question, did he know you were racing? You did say that you both settled down through traffic. Im running my truck for the first official time this weekend, it better do better than the SS, or I will be pissed. No offense to the SS or anything. As for the Lightning drivers (the newer Lightnings), everyone I have run into on the street (except for a few) has been really cocky, not you FordDriver, you're cool. They are hiding behind that Supercharger.

Speaking of which, my dad gave me the ok to buy a Supercharger for my truck. I'm probably going to go with the Kenne Bell but I can't get any information from them on when it comes out. Their site says August 2003, which was almost nine months ago. I guess they havn't updated their webpage in a while.

Thanks for the kind words vHiEpMeIr . As far as new lightning owners being cocky, I will have to agree with you except for a few. Most of them won't even give me the time of day and half of them don't even realize they made lightnings in '93-95 and the ones that do don't know a thing about them. There are a few of them that are cool though, so don't judge them all until you meet them, lol.

...makes you wonder how the SRT-10 drivers will be.....

RE: sad sad day.

The SRT-10 owners are probably going to be like any other hobby, sport, or whatever. There will always be a few elite, cocky buttheads that give the whole group a bad name/reputation. All you can do is try to put up with it.[sm=smiley24.gif]

vHiEpMeIr. I think GM might be fudging the #'s on the test truck a bit. If you look back in this thread, I mentioned a HP difference between the 2 trucks. GM has always sent cars/trucks (suspected) to the mags for testing that seem hotter than the street version. The Camaro SS was supposed to be a like an low 13 sec. car, but I've seen them in the 14 sec range instead. I realize the driver makes a difference, but when multiple cars are running about the same,????

I see. What I don't understand though, if the HEMI and SS have the same amount of power, but the SS weighs 500lbs more, how can it's power to weight ratio be better?

RE: sad sad day.

It can't be better, if the HP is the same. AWD can make a huge difference too.
