Well, I was going through some paperwork today looking for the warranty information on the Ram's transmission and I found the file folder that holds all of our family's speeding tickets, which is about four inches thick. I was going through it and most of them were given to my Dad for things like speeding and reckless driving, but I came across a very interesting one. It was from 1981 and it was given to my Mom after being busted for street racing! Here's the scoop behind this one. My parents were living in Knoxville at the time since my Dad was still in school. They had a 1979 Mercury Capri RS (302, 4-on-the-floor stick, 4.10 rear end gears, completely badass) and my Mom was at a redlight when a college boy in a "Smokey & The Bandit" Trans Am pulled up and signaled to race my Mom. She agreed and when the light turned green, she revved the engine to the redline and dropped the clutch in first gear. She blew by him in first gear and completely smoked him. However, a Knoxville cop saw the whole thing and pulled them both over. He was shocked when he approached the Capri and saw my Mom and not some punk boy. He didn't believe what he'd just seen, a girl smokin' a Trans Am in a Capri RS. He gave her a ticket for reckless driving, speeding, and participating in a street race and let her go with that and a $250 fine. So now when my Mom complains about my driving, I'll remind her of this whole incident.

 

That's f***in' ace. Probably the best story I've heard all day!

 

I need to get that ticket framed and hung on my wall. Or I could just use it as blackmail...

Yeah, she's cool, but my Dad is an idiot. He traded tha Capri for a Toyota pickup in 1987, and that was traded for a Maxima in 1989. He should have just kept the Capri.

 

And given it to you when you were old enough, no doubt.

Sounds like my grandma, who had a mint condition 65 Mustang convertable, and sold it without asking if I wanted it. [:@]

 

Well duh! My Dad said that he went through a new set of rear tires every 7,500 miles or so.
