Gordon wins from pole 2 straight races 8th time in modern era: Jeff Gordon won the 2004 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway and at Infineon Raceway, winning his second straight race from the Bud Pole, the second time in his career to do so. He also won two straight races from the Bud pole in June 1996: Dover and Pocono. What is the modern era [1972-present] record? AND Before Gordon did it in 1996, Bill Elliott was the last driver to accomplish the feat in June 1985, winning at Pocono in June and then Michigan one week later [qualifying was rained out at MIS, Elliott was the points leader at that time and started 1st.] It's only the 8th time in the modern era that a driver has won back to back races from the pole.
