The all-new Daytona Int'l Speedway?
Infield renovation: Following the Pepsi 400, the Daytona International Speedway will begin a multi-million dollar infield renovation, which includes a new tunnel, new NASCAR NEXTEL Cup garages, new NASCAR Busch garages, a new Gatorade Victory Lane, a Fan Zone, new specialty vehicle parking, new scoring trilons and expansion of the existing media center. The massive undertaking is scheduled to be completed in time for the Speedway's World Karting Association events in December. The project will not alter the layout of the track's surface.(DIS PR)

RE: The all-new Daytona Int'l Speedway?
Some fans protest new infield plans at Daytona: Tent-pitching fans' fears that the planned overhaul of the Speedway infield might not leave much room for them kicked up a small protest Saturday afternoon. Bulldozers are lined up to level the garage area of Daytona International Speedway to begin a $50 million renovation soon after the Pepsi 400 competitors speed off. Before Speed Weeks rolls around in February, it's anticipated that 15 acres of the infield's Lake Lloyd will be filled in and replaced with a new waterfront boardwalk with souvenir bazaars and other places to shop. Most controversial, though, is the plan to add 500 more spaces for recreational vehicles. At about noon Saturday, about two dozen people marched around "Tent City" urging that the tradition of tents and vans in the infield remain. For the renovation or not, both sides could agree one change would be for the better: infield showers.(Daytona Beach News Joural)
