has anyone here in a hemi ram raced a chevy SS? I was reading on an SS forum and some guys said they destroy all hemi's and some said they have lost, what's all yours opinion on that?

 

well i have a 00 dakota 4.7 and ive beaten the three that i have raced. all i have is tuner, intake, exhaust and 68mm tb. guess it depends on what is done to the hemi ram and what options it came with ie. rear end gear ratio, rc, 2wd and such.

 

yeah they were all saying the RCSB 2wd 17 inch rim guys are the ones to watch out for. Luckily that's what I have. They also said it's definitly a loss for them if we have a superchip and they're stockl. Thanks for the response stonecold, good to hear about some dodge wins on these guys.

 

the 06 magnum r/t i ran put up more of a fight ( course it only beat me by 1 1 /4 car lengths,) than the ss did.

 

I tried to race a couple when I had my truck...but most SS owners are old (they can afford a $40,000+ truck) and don't race. One came up to my car club meet one night...he had water or alchy injection (idk), probably had a pulley...whatever...I walked up and said "THAT THING GOT A HEMI!?!?!" Everyone looked at me in discust. I guess they didn't know I would have pulled that POS hard! It's a nice truck but for the money you can buy a used SRT-10, which is a better truck (period).

But to anwser your question again...Nope, never raced one.

 

I watched a QC Hemi Ram 4X4 and an Extended Cab Chevy Silverado SS race 3 times in a row and teh SS smoked teh Hemi all 3 times. It won by a pretty big margin. The Chevy SS is a pretty fast truck, but I still will never understand why anyone looking for speed and performance would buy a truck. If you want speed and performance, there ae better choices out there for the same money that are much faster than any truck.

yeah well the QC 4x4 is a good amount slower than my RCSB 4x2 and I have a truck so i can take my motorcycle to the track and I still enjoy speed, i don't think you can load a dirtbike in an srt-4. also you could say "if someone wants speed why would they buy a car and not a motorcycle" I could go to the local suzuki dealership right now and buy something for 10k that could eat your srt-4 so it all depends how you look at it.

Yeah Brah, QC 4x4 trucks are slow. The SS would eat that Hemi all day. I don't understand why people hate on truck racing though. I had my Hemi, now I have a SRT-4. The SRT-4 will never be as cool as a Mustang, Camaro or Hemi truck. It's a cool/FAST car for what it is, but it's a NEON. But anywho, it's easy to make a truck faster than a car...just need some NAWZ!

 

Ive never raced a SS, but i want to. Like the other person said most of the time its older people driving them going about 5miles under the speed limit. But as for the people hating on truck racing.. to me i like trucks just becuase to me they look more aggresive and you can hawl **** if you need to... race, hawl, sleep, and pull **** if you have to.

I also like the feeling that you get when you race a nice *** car and beat them with a truck that weighs almost 2x times as much as there car.... i was looking at my friends mach 1 and it said it weighed about 4300 and my truck weighes less then that about 4200 i think. Meh there is alot of reasons i like trucks, i have never owned a car and if i do get one its going to be a TA, GTO, or a SRT-4, but my truck is staying with me till i die.
