Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default 1 Ton leaf springs on a 1/2 Ton?

On my 79' power wagon, would I be able to bolt a pair of 1 Ton springs up to my 1/2 ton? Thanks again.

i got some heavy duty springs from JCW (the heaviest ones) and they installed just fine, the only thing is the spring eye bushings use larger hardware than stock, but they do fit.....

I was thinking about making a 3500 dually R/C thake the springs, axle, rims, fiber glass fenders off an old 3500 dodge truck then chop the top off and mount a 5th wheel hitch. I'd be cool looking!

It would probably be pretty stout looking. Do you have a donor vehicle?

theres alot of good junkyards around here. easy to pull parts and such. It could also be done on the cheap with just the dually rims, spacers and rear fenders. wouldn't haul as much, just look cool. I was thinking this could be done with a bronco, k-5blazer/suburban, or even a centurion (an after market bronco conversion with 4 full doors like a suburan, died~1992 still costs $30,000, if you can find one) I might try this for a project down the road, right now i'm fixing up a nice '86 stock rc into a sunday driver, and I also have my '90 4x4 rc. they take most my time/funds. both of those are on hold until i build the garage to work in though.

You can install almost any spring on the rear but as mentioned, the replacement springs may have different bushing, bolt sizes and shackles. The other thing to consider is the axle itself, just by merely putting on heavy springs you can overload the rear axle that you have now if you haul heavy loads. You probably have a 9.25" rear on your truck now and you would need a Dana 60 or Dana 70 in the rear if you want to haul heavy loads. I suppose if you were changing springs just to lift the truck you will be ok.
