no fire
I have just rebuilt the top half of the motor on a 1990 Dodge Ramcharger. Went to start and nothing. I replaced the starter and the motor turns over but it is not getting any spark. Just replaced spark plugs and wires. Any suggestions?
Try unhooking your coil wire from the distributor and holding it near a clean ground while someone cranks the motor. If it sparks, then you know to start at the distributor. If no spark, I`d replace the coil.
make sure you check both balisters befor you go replacing the coil i was having that problem with my 86 rc and that is what it was we also had that prob. with our wood chipper that has a slant 6 in it so check those first
Bad coil is not a common problem-check resistance across the terminals. Prestolite or Essex should be 9-12K ohms,15k-19k for Diamond. Primary resistance is 1.35-1.55 ohms for all. And check for key-on power to the positive coil terminal. If it ohms out OK and has power, then it's a signal problem and we need to know which engine/what fuel system you have to further assist.
