Hey guys,
this is my first post so be easy on me. I have a 74 ram charger 4by4 with the original 440 in it. the 440 is strong but all of the wiring is shot. I bought a engine harness for a 440 car and modified it to work with the ram charger. Most of the electrical problems are under the dash. I was wonder if there is a good source for wiring for these trucks or should I just gut it and go with a painless wire system. None of the gages work and neither do the acc. Alot of the wiring has deterorated due to the age of the truck but most of the damage came from the previous own who cut everything up.

Professional
Go with painless, those old R/Cs and Powerwagons were prone to dash fires at the fuse block and at the alt guage, since the wire from the alt plugged directly into the back of the guage and its plastic!! Elec current makes heat and heat melts plastic!! What were they thinking?? I had a 79 powerwagon that I put a 440 in it and wish I still had it. Just make sure you use the right guage wire if you wire it yourself. Good luck.
