Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default '88 Ramcharger A727 to A518 swap.

I'm currently making plans to swap the tranny in my RC for an O/D drive one,and i have a couple questions.
1. I have the 5.2L (318 ci) engine, if I can get the 518 from a 5.2 will it just bolt up where my 727 was?
2. If the 518 is from a 5.9 (360), will it bolt up or will I need an adapter?
3. To find one I would look for a '90-'93 RC,or '90-'95 pickup correct?
4. The rear drive shaft needs to be shortened, correct? (2WD)
5. I have all the hook ups to control the O/D figured out, but is there any thing in particular i should grab when I pull the tranny? (From the local pick n pull.)
Thanks for your time and help

A couple other things I forgot:
The 518 has different size oil lines, so i should grab the rad from the donor truck, correct?
My 727 has a non lock up torque converter, is it possible to swap in a lock up tranny? Or should I stick with a non lock up?
