I have an 89 dodge Ramcharger with a 316 engine. At some point there was a 360 in it. Now I currently have a little 3 speed automatic, which I am trying to get a 4 speed tranny with overdrive because my current 3 speed tranny slips outta gear all the time not to mention its a bout 4000 rpms going down the highway. But I'm in desperate need of this transmission and could use any feedback about how I could get it and also get it rebuilt. That's my plan is to get a old 4 speed tranny and pay someone to completely rebuild it. Here's my cell : 240-215-5907

 

you would be looking for a a518 (3 speed with OD) which is a pretty common transmission. Check craigslist and junkyards and maybe even a local transmission shop.

 

Ya. A 4 speed With o/d is a 5 speed. What you want is a 4 speed. Also, you dont have a 316. You possibly have a 318.
But you not knowing these things will make it hard for people to sell you the right things.
