Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default 87 Ram charger ballast resitor

While working on our Ramcharger I discovered it had the old canister type coil. I happened to have a MSD Blaster 2 coil laying around so I was gonna throw it on. It came with a ballast resistor and while doing some searching and chatting with a fellow RC owner I found out that it needs it. However I can't find the stock one. It's not on the firewall where they normally are. I've read about some "lean burn" setup but I have no idea if I have that or not. Can anyone help me out with this?

unless the truck originally came from the factory with the 360-4 barrel engine you won't have one on that truck. Is there a computer in the fender behind the battery? If so then no ballast resistor. If that is the case then hook the wire going to the + side of the coil to the resistor and add a wire from the other side of teh resistor the rest of the way to the + terminal on the new coil,. some coils have the resistor built in, some (apparently like yours) don't.

Yes I discovered I have the lean burn setup. I just threw the coil on there without it. Are you saying that's a bad idea?
