Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Cool Dakota to Power wagon body swap

I have a 1990 Dakota LE extra cab 4x2 that has 2 cracks in the frame in the front end and this disappointed me I like my truck. I also have a 1978 dodge Power Wagon long bed 4x4 that was given to me as a parts truck, also have a 1974 dodge Custom short bed 4x2. My question is I want to put my Dakota body on the power wagon frame I need some knowledgeable input on how to go about this and what problems I will run across. I have a mechanical back ground and knowledge of fabrication but a body swap is not something I've done in the past. Point me In the right direction for technical info any input is greatly appreciated.

Unless you modify the frame, the cab won't fit. My advise is to grab a tape measure and go start measuring stuff to see what you would be up against.

Scrap the Dakota and fix up the power wagon!

Frame and axles are larger than the Dakota so it won't work. Where are the cracks? If they in front of the suspension mounts and behind bumper mounts they may just be able to do repaired.

The cracks in the dakota frame are in the front near the lower A arm . The power wagon is a truck I would love to build but previous (not so bright) owner blew holes in the frame with a cutting torch to accomodate whatever gadgets they used as this truck was a snow plow vehicle and with that comes rust after a bit and the cab is barely attatched due to all the rustand the dash is nearly non existent all the plastic dry rotted unfortunately.
