1985 dodge rancharger question
i am installing a new carburator on my 85 ramcharger.. what grade of fuel should i use
i am getting ready to somewhat retire her and will be entering car shows 2020,
it will be stored about 80 percent of the time and only driven during the spring and fall.
currently i am using shell 89 and am hearing a rattling sound when high acceleration..
should i go permium and use it permanently. is shell a good grade of fuel..
the engine is a 5.2, 318, 2 barrel carburator,

89 should be just fine. How many miles on the engine? The rattling can be from carbon build up inside the cylinders or if you have 120,000 or more miles, the timing chain might need replacing. It's possible you might need to go a little higher in octane as your engine was built before ethanol became common in fuel. Back then I had a New Yorker that usually ran fine but I filled up in an emissions area and it knocked and hammered all the way home. Fresh fuel cleared it up.
