driver door lock will not unlock
1985 dodge ramcharger royal se.. these are the original door locks
the drivers side will not unlock, the passenger side works fine.
should i replace both locks since they are the same age
or can the drivers side be repaired..
these are power locks, should i replace them with the same or
can i use any locks that will match the ramcharger
are they hard to replace if i am doing it myself..

One of two things has probably happened. Can you hear the mechanism working inside? If yes, the rod has come loose from the actuator. They are held ion with plasitc clips. It may have broken from age. If it sounds like it's trying, but it isn't working, the actuator has gotten stiff. I've taken them apart and cleaned them to get them working again. I used 3in1 mtor oil and dielectric grease. About a 50/50 success rate. You can try Rockauto and other places to see if new ones are available.
