Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default Need help with starting my 1988 dodge w250

My truck will start but most of the time will not fire off until I roll of of the ignition switch to the run position. If I keep turning the key trying to turn the engine over, it will flood. What could be my problem? I have to roll off of my ignition switch to the run position before my engine fires off

There is an engine run position and an engine start position. It sounds like your switch might be bad. Keep in mind the switch is on the steering column, not the key cylinder.

Default Switch

I have replaced the ignition switch in the last two weeks. Before it had a button to push ran up to the dash that engages the starter. Since I replaced ignition switch, I no longer need to use the button to engage the starter. But either way it will not fire off until I roll it back. Before the new ignition switch I put in. I had to turn the key off and on to get it to fire off.

Your ignition has "run" and a "crank" wiring threw the ballast resistor. May want to check that out.
