simple power adders?
Hey fellas i have a 90' ramcharger 150, 318, 2 barrel carb, auto., all that kinda stuff and i was wondering what i could do to give it some good power. i'm thinking of switching out carbs 2 to 4 but i'm not sure if i should do that considering that this motor has over 200k on it. any suggestions?
I've got a better source for you...for ramcharger modding. Check out: www.ramchargercentral.com

Most likely three things with that kinda mileage...timing chain has stretched, cam has worn lobes, or the engine is just plain tired or some combination of the three. I doubt any simple mods will make any significant improvement...may even be the tranny is worn and not really efficient...
I would consider rebuilding the drivetrain, starting with the engine and tranny...nothing hot, just a good "RV" type of build for low end grunt (you have a really heavy truck there) and go from there...
You got to keep in mind about emissions too if you come from a state that enforces them.

First of all i would pull the motor and do a basic rebuild, at that point any good engine builder can put a good performance package together for you .

Well, lets talk simple. You DONT have a carb you have a throttle body. First thing really cheap is a K&N filter and a throttle body spacer. Then think about letting it breathe with dual exhaust. Might consider some headers when doing the exhaust. Now for the truth about Dodge and their intakes. They suck. Dodge engineers will tell you real quick if you want to make it run better, get an Edelbrock Torquer Intake manifold on it and get ready to see the difference. Now about oil. Synthetic oil such as I use, Castrol Syntec will also over a period of time make her moan a little better. Now with 200,000 on her, I would treat her to an over haul and while you are doing it, put on the accessaries I have mentioned plus maybe a small sized cam that you wont have to change your lifters out for.

all of this sounds great BUT u also have a computer that has to no all u have changed. u are in luck tho for your 90 ace can fix u upw/ a chip. u can look at the tbi and see the size of the plates. the 360 has 2 5/16' plates that is capeable of 750 cfm flow. all else has to be considerd when u call ace. or u can convert to a standard egnition like the mid 80 s either way u are going ti spend some momey .. i hav played w/ my 89 for 3 years trying to get it to do what i want ON luck.
there was an article in mopar factory mag that told why the tbi was a problem.. holly makes the body mopar screws it up from there.. the fact. cant even tell u what it flows. in fact they dont no much it is to old. if u can find a 93 it has a system like the mustang and it will nake it sing a new tune.. quinn
