Top urgent, Help Ramcharger 78 4x4
Hello every one, this is my first participant in this Forum.[/b][/b]
Two weeks ago I bought my ramcharger 78 with 440ci eng, with out front driveshaft.
This is the following problems I do have with my RC, & I do appreciate your help.
1.After I fixed the front driveshaft (cause I bought it with out it) & trying the car I couldn’t drive it slightly, it looks like the wheel stocks or locked with some thing, and the front side of the car it was jumping, and when I turn around the car stopped at meddle of the road.
2.The engine Heat became so hot after 15-20min driving in city traffic.
3.I can’t restart the car from the first time ignition I have to try 3 or 4 times to restart.
Thanks yall for help

Sounds like it could use a tune-up. The jumping part would be common on the road surface if the 4x4 was enguaged. If disenguaged, it shouldn't. Make sure its in 4x2 and try backing up about 10 or 15 yds to make sure the front axle unlocks.
Thanks buddy, you are the first one giving me hopes to be one of this grope, lol any way I like my truck but in my area there is no one have or love Dodge trucks spicily the old ones like what I do, I have to spend more time with my truck & get closer to solfe the problems.
Do you have any idea about replacing my 440eng carburetor with Chevy 350 carburetor is it Passable???

You will more than likely need an adapter, but you should be able to swap them. Double check the wiring on them though also to make sure they match up. If so, I see no reason why it can't be done.

As far as the engine replacement, you will need to find a different transmission, as the 440 block is much larger than the 350 block. You would have to do some fabrication for motor mounts. You will also have to adapt in one of two ways. Either adapt the 350 to a chrysler transmission, or a chevy transmission to the transfer case. Another option would be to get a motor/transmission/transfer case out of a full-time 4wd chevy and replace all the running gear. However that would require some more fabrication.
And given your location (the middle east), I'm sure fulltime 4wd Chevys are harder to come by...especially intact ones that would have all of what you'd need. [>:]
TBR, he asked about changing the Carb on his 440 with one from a Chevy 350, not swapping out the motor.

Ah...I guess I misunderstood that part. When I read it, it sounded like he wanted to replace a carburated 440 with a carburated 350 [&:]
I guess a 350 carb would work...if you could adapt it to the intake. You'd probably have to do some tuning or maybe re-jetting, depending on the size of the carb. The 440 is a thirsty motor...you wouldn't want to starve it of fuel or air

You know guys my RamCharger is the only one in my aria, maybe is in the country, my friends must of them have landcrusers and some other Chevys 4x4s, but I picked the 4x4 all time the ramcharger, cause I remember how hard and tuff Dodge trucks my father use to have an old powerwagon 40s model, and how he and his friend survive every time driving it from work site to home tack a weeks of driving off rode it is real challenge and long stories. I hope to kick my friends asses with my RamCharger LOL LOL
