Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default 89 Ram charger.. 4x4 issues...

im just bought an 89 ram charger and it has a problem with the front wheel bearings.. they are CAKED full of mud and dirt from the pervious owner getting it stuck in the mud.. the issue is that now it wont ingaine in 4x4 the driveshaft spins and everythin but it seems the HUBS wont ingage.. is this due to the mud in the hubs or is it the hubs? .. ok i replaced the bearings.. cleaned everythin up new bearings.. seals races everything everything in the fnt axle is now brand new pretty much...

ok did some major work today on the ramcharger.. i put new brakes all around new calipers new drums an rotors... new negitive bat. cable (they didnt have the right length for possitive yet) lol i removed the light for the MAINT. needed thing.. thats no more... here is what i got to i had my nephew who was helpin me lay on the ground to watch the frnt diff.. i drove past him in 2wd and it didnt spin so then i put it into 4w hi and the frnt and rear both spin.. put it into N neither spun and 4lo both spun .. so i thought i had it workin without havin ne problem.. i wondered why the light on the dash wasnt coming on so i tore apart the dash again.. saw the blub was dead replaced it with a new one.. didnt light up.. took my mulitimeter to the light holder... the black n white wire was 12.98 volts hot no matter what.. the other side which had a green n black striped wire was 0 volts no matter what.. i have no idea what is goin on with the light.. im confused and fustrated there.... then i thought the 4wd was workin so i went on my back yard to our hill put it in 2wd couldnt make it up.. just like i thought i put it in 4hi and i turned the wheel so i could watch the frnt wheel from the driver seat and gave it a lil gas the rear wheels spun the frnt didnt even turn.. but my nephew said that when i startd to drive up to the hill in 4x4 it was turnin up front .. so something dont seem right to me.. what you guys think?? any input whatsoever would be a great help

, shift into 4 wd and connect aengine vacum linedirectly to the vacuum actuator, and see if it works! That will engauge the hubs I beleive. If it does you can always run a vacuum line into the cab and manualy engauge the hubs after shifting the transfer case. Vacuum switches are available at many shops tha service the industrial market, as well as MSC and McMaster Carr. You shoul also hook onto the Vacuum modulator and draw a vacuum to make sure the actuator is not blown(leaking badly)
