I picked up this Leer Cap for my 01 Dakota Quad cab Christmas Eve, got a decent deal on it, it only needs the rear left pop out glass. But for the life of me I can't find anyone who carries it, I'm not sure what model the cap is either, there's a tag on the inside left that has "LEER EA 774880" but I don't know if thats a model # or just what number it was from the factory. Any help on some leads for glass would be appreciated as Electrical tape and cardboard only lasts so long lol!
No luck there. I went to a leer dealer and when they looked up my cap it's listed as obsolete and parts are no longer sold. So I'm either looking for secondhand or some site that sells NOS parts
Edit: Thought of this stuff... Windo Weld, which is used to install auto glass... windshields etc. If you can get the glass made, you could use this to adhere it. It's basically sticky bead you'd apply on the leer cap, then press the glass into place on top of it. You may need to find somewhere warm to do it as I think it has a temp requirement. When you apply the bead, you butt the ends, do not overlap.
agreed, how is the other side affixed. A lexan panel isn't much different than glass- maybe better since you can silicone the perimeter and place button head bolts and nylocks.
The window is mounted like the rear wing windows on mini vans, with the bolts through the glass, and the other side is a clasp style latch. The window seal sticks out to make it sealed when latched, which makes it hard to do a homemade repair. I'll come up with something though hopefully soon, might not be pretty though lol
That should be rather easy to replicate then. worst case, lexan with bolts through it. Best case, get the hinge and latch assembly off a club cab at the junkyard
