Transmission won’t shift into 3rd under acceleration
I recently put in a reman-transmission in the truck and I’m have an issue with the truck shifting into 3rd when accelerating but if you let off around 40mph, it shifts into 3rd and you reapply throttle and go. I have a check engine 22 for the engine coolant temperature sensor and I’m pretty sure it’s the plug needs replacing. However I don’t think that would cause a problem on 3rd gear alone. Any advice goes along ways. Thanks in advance.
First three gears are controlled purely by hydraulics. Modified a bit by the TV cable. If the cable is sticking, or out of adjustment, or, the spring fell off, that will do odd things to shift points.

Thank you, it seems my tv cable was way out of adjustment by around 10-14 clicks. However transmission is shifting great now. Can’t thank you enough. The only issue I have now is that code 22 engine coolant temperature sensor, I have changed the sensors and changed the plugs going to them and it’s like nothing changed. It’s been a pain in the you know what.

Keep in mind, your truck has TWO temp sensors, I one-wire for the gauge, and a two-wire for the PCM. You want to address the two-wire feller.

I switched out both of the sensors (the single prong and the dual prong) checked the voltage and with key on/engine off got 4.98v, I traced the wires back to the computer and found no issues with the wires. This just has me completely lost on what else to do.
