Default suspension question

I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 long bed, and I want to lower the rear of the truck to sit even with the front. This is a two wheel drive truck, and i was wanting to know, if i can put to rear axel on top of the leaf springs, and then use lowering blocks to finish the job. If i can do this, will i need anything special other than the new blocks and hardware that comes with the blocks which includes new u bolts, nuts and the blocks them selves. i am asking if i need any brake parts or suspension parts, or can i just take the leaf springs off and put them under the axel to achive the drop that i want.
