Default lift and speedo

I was told that if I add a lift and bigger tires that I would have to reprogram the speedo or it would mess up the ECM and possibly harm the cummins engine or trans. Is this true? I cannot find a programmer anywhere for the 05 that I have. any suggestions.

Default RE: lift and speedo

Just have it recalibrated at the dealership.
Done deal.
I don't have the cummins. But i lifted my 03 Ram 5.5" and i'm running 35" rubber and when my speedo says 65 i'm actually doing 70. I bought the hypertech programmer but it does not allow you to adjust for bigger tires on the HEMI specific unit. It hasn't affected the performance of my truck in the least. I have just learned to deal with the speedo until i decide to fork over the cash for a calibration.
