rancho shocks
I just got in a set of rancho RS9000X's for my '03 ram 1500 2X4. My question is this: The shocks just sit in their "compressed" state. I can pull the arm out and push it back in...so is this normal for shock that go on my truck? thanks for any info everone.
those socks are adjustable so maybe theres a way to lcok them or suttin
or if you dont want the adjustables and want different shocks, rancho RS5000 are good, and gabriels are pretty good as well we have them on our truck

That was what I thought at first, but like I said they move in and out fine it is just that you have to do it.
I asked afew peeps that and that general answer I got was that the shocks are just glorafied dampers thats why they are supposed too make the ride better. They are not gas shocks and that is why they don't uncompress on their own.

Ok so I got the front ones on yesterday and they work fine. If you are going to put these on or any shock that is about the same size and has the rubber boot... you are going to have some really banged up hands, unless you know some trick that I could not figure out. It is a pain in the rear to feed the boot throught the opening in the lower control arm.
The ride in the front is better and more controled...now to do the rear end today:-)

Well got the rear ones on the other day. It still rides like a truck, but the movement is much smoother and it just feels like the movement is more controled. I have them set on 4 all around. I am going to rie on them alil longer before makeing any adjustments. They are great shocks so far, just alil hard to get the front ones on due too the rubber boot.
Would like to hear an update as I am thinking about these shocks for my Durango along with the in cabin remote that allows for the 9 position adjustment. What setting? did you lock your shocks in? I was told at 4Wheel parts the other day that you may want to go low setting in front and increase the rear when it's loaded. This looks like a really good on/off road solution and one that may change my mind on lift kits.
