Default Improving Handling & Ride Quality

I'm looking for relatively simple/cheap ideas that might improve the ride quality and handling on my '02 Ram Quad Cab. Not that the ride/handling is bad, but I'm just looking to improve it. I'm close to needing tire replacement(17" 265R70), and I thought I might change out the stock shocks as well. Anyone have any experience in shocks on their late model Rams?? Surely there are some good aftermarket shocks out there that would significantly improve the ride/handling??? I'm not an off-roader, just wanting my daily commuter to be the best she can be. Any thoughts/opinions/advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!
