Default Suspension Upgrades

I am looking at doing a few upgrades to my 1998 Neon. It's a base model but i would really like to put the ACR's adjustable Koni's in. Will this be a problem at all or should they bolt right in? I am also interested in getting a new set of anti-roll bars. I was looking at the Eibach set, but was wondering if there are any alternatives that are equivalent. Also I am wondering how effective a pair of strut tower braces would be in my car. Lastly, I want to fix my engine mounts. i was considering the energy suspension setm because they can just slide into the existing mounts. By the way my car is an automatic if that makes any difference. Thanks for all your help.

Default RE: Suspension Upgrades

Are you buying the ACR Konis' new or are you getting them off of an actual ACR? If your getting them from an ACR, then you might as well grab the sway bars off of it as well. If not, then the Eibachs will be just fine. I think you have to remove the motor mounts to put the Energy Suspension inserts in. I had the Rex motor mount inserts in my R/T and they worked out well, and the mounts can stay in while you put them in. Strut tower braces do quite well for the cars handling, I've noticed a difference in both my R/T and my SRT-4 and that was just with the front on both. They're also fairly inexpensive, the one on my R/T was an APC that was $30 and the one on my SRT-4 is a Vibrant Performance that was $40. The best ones for the 1st gen. Neons are the Edelbrock (their front brace is ONLY available for the DOHC motor), they are rectangular box steel and are the strongest and stiffest. The reason I went with the APC instead is because I had bought the Edelbrock and it fit tight against the ignition coil and I didn't want such a good conductor pressing against the coil and wires. I was going to get the Edelbrock rear strut tower brace for the R/T, but I sold it before I ever got around to it.
