RE: How High?
The biggest problem you'll run into with the body lift is that there is a lot of weight to support. Most aftermarket body lifts are hardened plastic pieces, usually 2-3 inches...I haven't heard of any standard aftermarket body lift more than 3 inches tall. With a full sized truck, the weight of the cab and the bed rocking back and forth, and if you put a lot of weight in the bed for hauling or towing, the body lift kits have a tendency to start to break down. The hard plastic will start cracking, or chipping off the top and bottom. Your best bet is to go with a suspension lift. On a 98 Dodge 1500, you can get a 3 inch suspension lift starting around $300. The three inch will allow you to run 33 in tires without any rubbing at all. You can stuff 32.5's under there but you have to watch your tire width. If you end up running anything over 295 width wise, you'll rub hard when you cut the wheel.

RE: How High?
I HAVE 12" OF LIFT ON MY 97 RAM SPORT 4X4 AND IT IS NOT TOO HIGH. HOWEVER TODAY MARINE CORPS AIRSTATION CHERRY POINT DECIDED THAT ANYTHING OVER 6" ADDED TO THE RIDE HIGHT OF ANY VEHICLE INCLUDING HEIGHT ADDED BY THE TIRES IS TOO HIGH AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON BASE. I'M RUNNING 37" TIRES BUT PLAN TO UPGRADE TO 41". THAT WOULD BE MY TRUCKS MAX TIRE SIZE UNTIL I ADD TO THE LIFT.
