I have my PT Cruiser on the road and it's doing great. Unfortunately, by the time I fixed all the stuff that was allowed to accumulate, I'm in way too deep for a beater work car. On the other hand, it turned out in really, really great shape. It's not like new, but it's better than good. I'm using it as a daily driver. It's handled an ice storm just fine. I drove home through 6 inches of snow and it just went on down the road. KBB shows this car from $4200 to $5800 in very good shape. I think $5800 is silly high.
It looks, drives and rides nice. It's not like an old New Yorker, but for a 12 year old car it drives like a 4 or 5 year old. It needs a really good scrubbing, but you can get in it and drive it home. The only tool you'll need is a screw driver to put your plates on. I have some shock absorbers for the rear to put on yet, but otherwise it needs nothing. I pulled the timing cover off planing to replace the timing belt but it's been changed. The timing set will go with the car. Parts I have replaced are;
Front struts
front calipers, pads and rotors
front sway bar end links
Both tie rod ends
Both front wheel bearings.
One tire was fairly new when I got it and the other three are new now
Headlights
Fog lights 30 watt each over the stock 20 watt
radiator.
radiator fan
front bumper cover
battery
spark plugs (the old ones were burning clean but had a huge gap, possibly the oem units)
Various other maintenance items
This car is in better condition than most you'll see on dealers lots. Now that I'm getting used to it, I love the car. I have a high Deer population to deal with so I wanted a cheap beater in case I hit a Deer. I have way too much in this car to use it for that plus I don't want to destroy a really nice car. I've also found out why old people (like me) love these cars. No rips on the seats but one spot in the cargo area. The body is straight and solid with NO rust perforation. There is one spot I've found with surface rust that will need attended to before it does rust through. Right now, rust conversion and some paint will stop it.
Now, it does have some warts. There's a button on the windshield up behind the mirror. You can't see it from inside. The radiator and fan were replaced because the elderly previous owner ran over a parking block or something. Evidently these have a weak spot there. I pulled 9 or 10 lower radiator supports before I found one that was straight. The biggest wart is the first owner was a daily rental car. The interior and exterior really need cleaning. The seats have stains from spilled food and the car was parked for months under trees that left dirt built up. TPMS light is on. I'm going to check the spare to make sure it's aired up. Otherwise the sensors might need replaced or new batteries.
I have a clean and clear Indiana title in my name. If you live in Indiana, I live one black from a BMV branch and you can title it here for the trip home.
98,000 miles on the clock but that will go up as I drive it daily when possible. If you're interested or have any questions, PM me or email me at yankstanks@aol.com Put cruiser in the title so I know you aren't a scammer. The car is located in Evansville, Ind., in S.W. Indiana.

Keeping the posting alive. I've been driving it and the miles are getting towards 99,500. TPMS light goes out in warm weather. I could add a little air but the ride would suffer. Now that winter is leaving and I don't warm the car up, I'm getting 20-26 mpg.
