Default 2005 PT Cruiser base convertible, $4500

I have a nice looking, running and driving car for sale. I bought it to help the previous owner settle her affairs. It originally was in service as either a daily rental, or a lease car, in Michigan for two years. It had one rust perforation which I had repaired with metal and a partial respray. It is NOT a show car. Just a nice, fun car to drive. It's turned out nice enough that if I didn't have trouble getting out of it, I'd keep it.

It does have some warts. The paint is nice, but not great. I don't know when the timing belt was replaced. The dash cluster in it failed and a replacement was put in showing 17, 298 more miles than the original. The new cluster was different in part number by one digit. The brake and ABS lights are lit when it finishes start up procedure. I suspect it is trying to read modules this car doesn't have as I can't find anything wrong and the brakes work fine. Right now I've got an oil leak. It was leaking worse when I bought it as the oil sender had gone bad. I'm getting ready to replace the valve cover gasket.

Now the good stuff. New tires and battery. Brakes are in good shape. Front struts, tie rod ends and sway bar end links are new. (FEA done afterward.) I have new rear shocks and jounce bumpers for the rear. (Weather changed before I got them on.) The doors open and close nice and smooth. The drivers window was loose causing water to funnel into the rocker, hence the repair of a rust spot. Top looks okay. It spent a lot of time folded. However, it works smooth and doesn't leak. Heat gets pretty hot and last summer the a/c was working. It was weak but a slight recharge got it cold. (Hey, it's 17 years old)

Now just other details. I wouldn't want to drive it cross country merely because it doesn't have cruise control. It's not that it isn't working, it's not equipped with it. The trunk only opens with the key. Smart glass works fine. It drops a little to open the door and all windows go straight down when you drop the top. There was one worn spot on the drivers seat so a set of seat covers was added. It runs smooth, no exhaust leaks and no smoke from the exhaust.

The new paint does not have pinstripe on it. The painter said to wait a month before adding pin stripes or driving in the rain. I'm going to let the next owner either add new or remove leftover pinstripe.

The body man cut out the rust and welded part of a replacement rocker panel in. Bring a magnet if you want to check it or I've probably got one around here.

The undercoat was added in case the welds might have porosity issues.

I'm asking $4500. I have a little wiggle room that will close up as I correct the warts. I have a clean and clear Indiana title in my name and at hand. Bring cash and a license plate and you can drive it home. You can contact me via PM here. email at yanktanks@aol.com or call 812-four two three-21 four two evening before 9 Central time. I'm hard of hearing so email is best. I took some video of the car, but between an old camera, glare from the sun and my hand tremors, it stinks.

If you will be travelling a long way to look at it and you would like more photos, let me know. I have more and can take more.

Keeping the thread active. The car is driving out really nice. The one rust hole show is the only rust it had. It's been fixed properly. I'm going to pull the original cluster apart and see if I can find the problem. If it's just a resolder job, that will clear mist of the issues up.
