Default Different rims and tires?

I was wondering if it hurts to have 17in rims on the front and 16s on the back? Also if it's bad to run different brand tires on the front and back? Can I put mudd tires on the rear and AT on the front and be ok?

I got a 2001 Ram1500 4x4.

I ask because I have a 2 AT 17in rims(SAME BRAND), and 8 AT(2 diff brands) 16in rims. I am going to just rotate them 2 at a time. My truck frame is tweaked a bit so I do not want to spend money on new tires, because my passenger rear tire is eating tread faster then the rest. So I am buying used tires 2 at a time. Any thoughts on this plan?
