Wheel/tire Q's for a 01 Ram sport
I am interested in aftermarket wheels for my 01 Ram Sport Quad Cab 2wd. Right now it has the 16x7 wheels on 245/75 tires. From what I can figure, the wheels have 5x5.5 bolt pattern and 5.25 backspacing (please correct if wrong, especially on backspacing). I am looking at either a set of 16x7 or 16x8 wheels. If I stay 16x7, in the wheels I am looking at, I would have to go with a 4in BS and 0 offset. If I go with 16x8, 5in bs, +12 osand 4.25inbs, -6 osare available.Which would be recommended for my application? In regards to tires, can I stay with the stock size oneither rim width? I was also thinking of a 265/70 since itseems a little wider but almost the same height. Lastly, if I did upsize thetire to the 265/70, would I necessarily have to recalibrate the computer/speedo? I really didn't want to mess with computers on thisproject. And Ireally didn't want to wheel/tire sticking out much farther than the stock look. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Your stock tires should fit wheels from 6.5-8" wide. 265/70-16 would not require recalibration. It is wider, but the overall diameter is almost a perfect match. If you do not want the wheels sticking out, you need to have some positive offset. I am pretty sure the OE offset is 30mm.
