Default tires

Looking to buy a set of new tires as of now i have "2001 ram" OEM 245/75/R16 . Would like a wider tire but not sure what it would look like. Also does anyone have any suggestions on a brand . tirerack has good reviews on Avon Ranger TSE & Continental CrossContact LX. i'm more worried about winter driving beeing a 2wd last year was hell. .. but dont want a mush tire...

Wider tires actually are a little bit of a disadvantage in the snow, because they tend to "float" on the snow more rather than cutting through it. If you change to a more aggressive all-terrain tread (like the Revo) that will be a substantial upgrade in snow traction, but not as quiet and smooth as something like the Continental or Avon you mentioned.
