I have a 1993 D250 6 cylinder. I lowered it 3.5 inches and added some additions onto the body. I want to replace the LT245/75/16 tires with 235/65/16 C8 tires.
The local national brand tire stores will not do it because the new tires are not rated for my truck. Because of the modifications I've done, I doubt I would carry more than 700 pounds, and that would be very rarely.
The 235/65/16 tires have a Load Rating of "C" which I think is a 6 ply tire, the Load Index is 121 which is about 3200 pounds per tire.
Do you see any problems switching tires by using my small local tire shop? Will they work and be safe? This is what happens when you're a retired Art Teacher 200 plus hours of work. I know it's not for everyone.

Reason: Mistake in tire size
I wouldn't be concerned about using the tires, as long as you're familiar with and aware of what they are rated for. A lot of places are getting terrible about it, bring in some rims no vehicle and see if they'll do it. What's foolish is if a check box package on the order sheet supersedes the tire size printed on the door sticker, they wont mount em, even if they came from the factory with X size. find the tires you want, find a shop that will mount em an send it
