Default what size steel rim?

Hi, just purchased a 2007 caliber sxt sport, sunburst pearl color, for the wife and its got 215/60-17 tires and rims. Living in northern New Brunswick, Canada, and I'm thinking of getting 4 steel 16" rims for winter. I have a set of 225/60-16 Bridgestone Blizzaks (from my sold gtp) that have @ 5000km (no mistake) and was wondering what are the rim specs required?. Tire size wise, I know they are roughly the same and I know the caliber have 5-114mm bolt holes but do not know the back spacing. Also, would 16" rims from say a 300, stratus, intrepid, etc fit. Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated.

The 225/60-16 Blizzaks need a wheel 6 to 8 inches wide. The steel wheels that we list to fit your car also fit a mid-late 90's sebring or an early 2000's stratus. The Caliber generally takes around a 40mm offset wheel. Check http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AJ7&...nter/index.jsp to find the 16" wheels that we currently have available for the Caliber.

I am also getting a 2007 Caliber SXT. I am looking for a 15" rim for my winter tires. I already have a set of 205/75R15 Nordic Wintertracs, but your site does not list a 15" Steel rim for the Caliber, just alloys. Why is this?

Thanks.

John

Steel is getting more expensive, so sometimes we can't find an quantity/quality/price/availability that makes sense to order for the winter season. We try to supply steel wheels when we can, but we don't have every application covered every winter. We're getting such good prices on the Sport Edition wheels that sometimes the steel wheels we could get are only a few bucks less.

Ben,

Can you confirm that 15" rims will fit on the SXT and R/T Caliber models? I was taking a look at the website and it does list 15" as an option for the SXT and R/T. I just spoke with my local parts store and they stated that I can only go 16" because the 15" will not clear the calipers. Have 15" rims been test fitted on the SXT and R/T?

Thanks.

John

The 15" we list will definitely fit, or we'll take them back at no charge. We check everything we list before we put it up on the web. If you order through the web, note your previous contact as Ben/Dodgeforum which will give credit to the forum (and me)

Ben,

I just went to get my winter tires mounted and they are saying that the 15" rims wont clear the calipers. I did not purchase from TireRack, but did use the information to make an educated decision. Can you confirm this again?

What is the width, offset, & backspacing of the wheels you bought? What brand and style wheel are they?
If the wheel will fit depends on these dimensions.
You should have the shop show you how bad the fit is, that way you know exactly what is wrong fit wise.

Some of the 15" wheels fit, and some do not, and sometimes even if the width and offset is the same, one will fit and one won't just because of the way the spokes are shaped. We have to check each individual wheel to be sure of proper clearance. But yeah, as 89Daytona said, have them show you what's wrong, and you can go from there.
