Default 2001 Tire Size

I recently purchased this truck and love it. What I need to know is what is the maximum size tire I can put on a factory rim? The other option is: What is the largest tire and rim can I put on without a lift? Thanks...

No problem, I've got it now 265/70-16 would be the tallest, and that would fit on your 16x7 factory wheel (if that's what you still have). If you go to an 8" wide wheel, you can run 285/65-16's also.

I appreciate your help, but I recently decided to add a 2" body lift. My intention is to make my truck look tougher. By putting taller and wider tires on it. That way it would also fill in the room within the tire well. However, I don't want to make it too big. What you recommend in rim & tire size?

You could almost certainly get a 275/70-16 in there. Going much bigger (ie a 285/70 or 285/75) would require getting a wider wheel, probably 8" wide.

Would that be because of wear with the 7 inch wide rim? Since a 285 or 295 or 315 will physically fit on a factory rim? Just trying to get my question answered.

They may physically go on there, but the tire makers do not recommend it, and the potential problem is that if the beads aren't seating properly you have the risk of losing the seal and dumping all the air out, which is like having a complete blowout.

Could it affect wear though?
