Tell the world a little bit about your vehicle
This truck was my first vehicle and I always wanted one, ever since I was a little kid. I used it as a daily driver to school and work for many years and I drove it like I stole commuting to college since everybody drove that way and I ended up hurting it. But it's good to go for now as I slowly repaired it.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Well the engine is a 2.5 4cyl so not much you can do. I took the restriction tube out of the intake and added a K&N air filter and cut the flap off the end of the box that opens and shuts so that there is always air flow. custom 1 in dual out cherry bomb exhaust that sounds louder and rumbles like a small V8 at idle but once you drive down the street you can tell it's not haha. Had an Airaid throttle body spacer on but it hurt the throttle response to I took that off
Suspension Modifications:
I did a few things here I added a Monroe sport suspension shocks all around and added a Hellwig rear sway bar it. To test it I took corners on an old road in NY state as fast as I could before and after. After it took the corners roughly 50% faster with no issues.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
I went to an American Racing Alloy Rim 15x8, with BF Goodrich Radial T/A's This added to improved handling and overall look of the ride with the tires sticking out of the body roughly just under 2 inches
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Added a sport tech tach to the top of the dash cause the truck didn't have one. In addition I added a sunroof to help with the fact truck has no A/C. Also added a Hurst short throw racing shifter. Stereo went from stock am/fm stereo, to a Sony explode head unit with 6x9 door speakers and 2 10 inch subs with 1100 watt amp that fit right behind the bench seat. The subs are currently in my other truck. On the outside of the truck I added a street scene front air dam, fiberglass sport lid and roll pan with custom made metal spoiler
Future Modifications:
Well I beat on the motor good going to and from college and after breaking two camshafts finally replaced the head with one off a 95 2.5L Dakota. That being said I am researching into an SRT 4 engine swap to go along with the frame up restoration I am planning on doing. The salt in NJ just eats away cars and it's got a decent amount of rust on it. Read more ยป
