Dodge Challenger Black Ghost Sells For Well Over Sticker Price
While the MSRP is already in the six figures, this 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost fetched much more through the BaT auction.
The Legacy Lives On
The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost, limited to just 300 units, is a remarkable tribute to the legendary 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE, owned by Godfrey Qualls. This special edition muscle car is draped in Pitch Black, paying homage to the iconic "Black Ghost." This limited edition car serves as the prelude to Dodge's final special-edition model, the Challenger SRT Demon 170, known for its astonishing 1,025 horsepower on E85 fuel and 8-second quarter-mile times.
This particular example of the special edition 2023 Challenger Black Ghost was recently sold on Bring A Trailer.
Unique Design Features
The Black Ghost boasts several unique design elements that set it apart. These include "gator skin" roof vinyl, white rear fender stripes, a Midnight Metallic SRT grille badge, and black Mopar pins securing the dual scoop hood. It rides on Satin Carbon 20” Warp Speed wheels with 305/35 Pirelli P-Zero All Season tires. Thanks to its foundation in the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody specification, the Black Ghost features flared fenders, adaptive dampers, and black six-piston Brembo brakes at the front.
Interior Touches
Inside, the Black Ghost offers a luxurious experience with an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, heated and ventilated black Laguna leather front bucket seats with Alcantara inserts and debossed SRT Hellcat logos, and carbon fiber trim throughout. The door panels and headliner are covered in Dinamica, providing an elegant touch to the cabin. It's equipped with the Driver Convenience and Technology groups, the Plus Package, Uconnect system, and a Harman Kardon sound system for a premium driving experience.
The Heart of the Beast
Under the hood, the Black Ghost packs a punch with a supercharged 6.2-liter High-Output Hemi V8 engine. While one might expect 797 horsepower, Dodge has pushed it further to 807 horsepower, making it akin to the Super Stock or Jailbreak models. The engine delivers a jaw-dropping 707 lb-ft of torque, all transferred to the rear wheels through an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential. Launch Control, Line Lock, and an active exhaust system complete the powertrain package.
Collector's Rarity
Despite its initial sticker price of $100,865, the Black Ghost has become a collector's rarity. With only 13 miles on the odometer, it commands a price tag that surpasses its original cost. It's a unique offering for enthusiasts who appreciate the heritage and power of this special-edition Challenger, even when compared to alternatives like the 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera.
A Modern Icon
Showing 13 miles on the odometer, this Black Ghost was sold directly by a dealer out of Lake Angelus, Michigan. When the auction clock ran down to zero, the winning bid had come in at nearly twice as much as the price on the window sticker, at a whopping $190K.
