The 2010 Viper SRT10 ACR (American Club Racer) has become a major focal point of this - the final year of production for the current Dodge Viper.  When the car set records at both the famed Nürburgring in Germany and Laguna Seca here in the US, Dodge began by offering a handful of commemorative models followed up by the all-business 2010 Viper ACR-X.  The 2010 Viper ACR is probably the most well publicized of this year's Vipers but the one catch is that the American Club Racer was only offered as a coupe until the folks at Woodhouse Dodge made a call to the Chrysler big wigs.  Today, I had a chance to speak with Bill Pemberton, the Viper, SRT and Hurst Manager of Woodhouse Dodge and he took the time to give me more information on the Woodhouse Edition 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR convertible.

Woodhouse Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge is located in Blair, Nebraska and even though this small Midwestern town has only around 8,000 people, Woodhouse has sold more Dodge Vipers than any other dealership in the world.  Since they began selling Vipers in 1999, Woodhouse has sold between 1200-1300 of Dodge's Detroit-built supercars and when it was announced that the Viper production was coming to an end, Woodhouse Dodge had a special request.

hemi is safe lead in.jpg

On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal published a piece stating that the well-known Hemi is being demoted, in favor of "greener" engines.
This seemed odd to me, considering how fuel efficient the MDS-equipped
Hemi has proven itself to be in the Dodge Charger, Challenger and Ram
trucks and as other media sources picked up the story, the rumors got
deep. This is made that much more unlikely to me by the fact that many
engine rumors for upcoming Chrysler vehicles center around new (often
bigger) Hemi engines.

Some sources state that the Hemi will be dropped from the Chrysler and Jeep lineup and that the Hemi would only remain in the Dodge and Ram
brand vehicles but rather than make assumptions, I contacted Chrysler
for more information on the future of the Hemi. Earlier today, I spoke
with Nick Cappa, a representative for Chrysler's Brand Newsroom, who had
this to say about the Hemi:

"The HEMI V8 is still
very much part of our future powertrain strategy and we're continually
improving its fuel economy. Badging is something that changes over time
and has little or nothing to do with powertrain system or its use in
future products. The HEMI name will remain with any vehicle the engine
is associated with. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a HEMI 5.7-liter V8
available but no badge on the exterior. HEMI is still on the engine
cover, in the press kit, in the owner's manual and in the hearts of
anyone who can appreciate the power and torque it delivers

Whether you're 16 or 60, speeding tickets and traffic violations can happen to the best of us. If you drive a Dodge in New York and have recently received a moving violation, you're probably worried that your car insurance rates are going to go through the roof as a result. And it's true: whether you are applying for a brand new car insurance policy or simply extending an existing one, traffic violations are often one of the most important factors for determining your car insurance rates. Thankfully, New York State offers drivers the option of taking part in a program that can help them remove points from their driving record AND decrease their car insurance rates.

Point & Insurance Reduction Program

Passed in the Spring of 2009, the Point & Insurance Reduction Program (also known as PIRP) gives drivers the option of enrolling in an accident prevention course provided by a number of approved course providers. By passing a PIRP course, drivers can:...

While insurance fraud as a whole is nothing new in the world of crime, one specific type of insurance fraud has become an increasingly common way for thieves to line their pockets at the expense of law-abiding motorists: Staged Accidents. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), if you have your Dodge insured in the state of Florida, you have a much higher chance of falling victim to a staged accident than a driver in any other state. Since over 25% of all questionable bodily and personal injury claims occur in Florida, it is important for all Dodge owners in the state to understand the most common types of staged accidents and how to recognize and avoid them.

  1. The Swoop and Squat: Usually involving two vehicles (besides the victim), this method involves one car acting as the "Squat" by pulling in front of the victim in traffic. A second car then "Swoops" in and cuts off the squatting vehicle who is forced to brake suddenly - causing the victim to rear-end the squatting car. After the swoop car flees the scene, the victim is left having to pay for the squat car's damages.
  2. Side Swipe: Just as the name implies, this type of staged accident occurs when a victim drifts slightly out of their lane and is side-swiped by another vehicle in the adjacent lane. This occurs most commonly at...

If you live in Texas and you're in the process of looking for car insurance for your new or used Dodge Ram, chances are you're also looking for ways to save money on your policy. Luckily for you, as a Texas resident you have an option that drivers in most other states do not: Pay-Per-Mile Insurance. As opposed to policies that are based on fixed premiums, Pay-Per-Mile insurance gives you the option to have your insurance premium set based on the amount of miles that you drive. People who don't drive a lot will end up saving money overall, while those that use their car frequently may end up paying more. Here's how Pay-Per-Mile insurance works:

  1. Just like a regular policy, you start by getting a car insurance quote (this time on a per mile basis rather than yearly or bi-yearly)
  2. You purchase a specific amount of miles each six months based on how much you think you're going to drive.
  3. If you go over your allotted mileage amount, you can buy more miles. If you don't use all of your miles, you can usually roll them over into the next premium period.
  4. The way that companies keeps track of your mileage may differ, although the most basic way is...
