The 2015 Viper sees a handful of changes that will allow the Mopar supercar to draw interest from more potential buyers, but none of them will really allow the 2015 Viper to stand out in a crowd of current generation (2013+). This includes the first official models to be the Dodge Viper and not the SRT Viper, the new GT trimline, a revamped Time Attack package, two new colors, a new name for a current color in a special edition package and a touch more power across the entire model range.

“The Dodge brand is committed to keeping the ultimate American-built exotic supercar as unique as ever by offering new packages with some of the most exclusive and high-quality content we’ve ever produced in the Viper,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO — Dodge Brand, SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Brand and Fleet Operations, Chrysler Group LLC. “Our Dodge Viper customers crave new and exclusive options, which motivates our design and engineering teams to create special builds that continue to deliver our successful high-performance formula for street and track driving, while allowing our enthusiasts to stand out in their world-class supercars.”

First and foremost, with the introduction of the 2015 Dodge Viper SRT, the end has come to the SRT-branded Viper. This has no real impact on the car, but many Mopar fans think that this is a good move as the Viper should be a Dodge – not the one and only SRT vehicle.

Next, the 2015 Dodge Viper SRT now includes the GT model, which sits between the base Viper SRT and the Viper GTS. The Viper GT (shown below in Stryker Purple) is basically a base Viper SRT with some features of the GTS package, including the driver selectable suspension system featuring Bilstein DampTronic Select shock absorbers, a 5 mode electronic stability control system and a unique interior with standard Alcantara or Nappa leather seats available in Black, Demonic Red or Sepia. This 2015 Dodge Viper GT will be priced between the base SRT and the GTS – with exact pricing announced closer to the dealership debut of these new models.

Next up, the 2015 Dodge Viper has a pair of new colors and the return of Competition Blue – now known as Ceramic Blue. New for the base model 2015 Viper SRT is Yorange which – as you may have imagined – is a little bit yellow and a little bit orange. New for the Viper GTS is Stryker Purple, which looks black in dark lighting but when the sun hits this paint, it is a beautifully deep dark metallic purple. Also new for 2015 is Ceramic Blue, which looks an awful lot like 2014’s Competition Blue.

Ceramic Blue will only be available on the unique 2015 Dodge Viper GTS Ceramic Blue Edition Package which comes with the unique exterior paint, all of the interior goodies including carbon fiber accents and Rattler wheels. Only 40 examples of the2015 Dodge Viper GTS Ceramic Blue Edition Package wil be made.

In terms of power, the 2015 Dodge Viper doesn’t get a big jump, but a small jump in power is always better than no jump in power. Every car in the 2015 Dodge Viper lineup will pack 645 horsepower – up 5 ticks from 2014 – while offering the same 600lb-ft of torque. The 2015 models also have a new 6th gear that increases fuel economy to 20mpg…1mpg better than last year…but no one really cares about that.

Finally, the 2015 Dodge Viper has the new Time Attack 2.0 package. The 2015 Viper T/A is very similar to the 2014 models, but as you can see in the image at the top of this piece, the 2015 T/A has a larger rear wing and new front end dive planes that will help improve high speed downforce by almost 50% at 150 miles per hour.

Unfortunately, the Chrysler Group hasn’t offered up any pictures of the 2015 Dodge Viper T/A, the Stryker Purple Viper GTS or the Yorange Viper SRT…but since I was at the 2015 drive event earlier this year with my camera in hand – you can find more pictures of these new Mopar supercars below. Enjoy!

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
