The 2.5L 4-cylinder engine from the second generation Dodge Dakota doesn’t get a whole lot of love or respect but today’s cool thread feature takes a look at a 2.5L rebuild thread where DF member Bigboi407 looks to rebuild his 1998 Dakota engine while squeezing out a little more power in the process. Unlike many build threads which quickly shift from ‘working with what you have’ to ‘just buy a bigger engine’ – the members helping Big Mike mod his Dakota offer up solutions that wont break the bank.
While there arent all that many 4-cylinder Dakota owners out there striving for more power, this thread is a great example of what can be done without getting into major engine modifications (like forced induction) or an expensive engine swap. In total, this thread is packed with four pages of great information and dialogue on how to squeeze more power out of the 2.5L Dakota engine without squeezing every last cent out of your checking around.
