4.7 Tune-Up

4.7 Tune-Up
I used the search tool and nothing showed up for the 4.7
My question is this then, How much of a tune-up (done at the dealership or other shop) can be done at home?
I am not an expert but i do now my way around my truck and the garage so most things I can do by myself and the things that are more advanced i could probably figure out but would rather some one trained look at it.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

RE: 4.7 Tune-Up
I pretty much do everything myself except the tranny fluid, it's too much of a mess and a PIA, in my opinion. This includes all other fluids, filters, etc. Although the spark plugs in a Hemi are also a royal PIA and I think I'll just have them done next along with the tranny.

RE: 4.7 Tune-Up
Well first off the autolite coppers are one of the best plugs for the La magnum series engines (3.9, 5.2, 5.9), 3.7, and 4.7, not sure about the hemi. None of these engines like to run on platinum plugs, most who have them see a decrease in mileage. Second of all, the factory recommended autolites are 5224. The 3923's are a heat range cooler, most who have them agree that the engine runs better with them and they get better gas mileage. The second best plugs are the stock champions, but still not as good as the 3923's. I put them in my dakota a few weeks ago and it made a huge difference. Btw, I accidentally got that backwards before. its 3923, not 3293. Not sure why but that is such a hard number to remember...
