ORIGINAL: BadStratRT

perhaps someone should point out that the challenger has ONLY EVER BEEN a rebadged car??

the original challenger was a rebadged plymouth cuda...which had been offered for 6 years by the time the challenger was released, and the late 1970s challenger was just a mitsubish galant lambda, turned mitsubishi sapporo, rebadged.
They were very similar cars, but werenot necessarily an example ofpure rebadging. The Barracuda's wheelbase was 2" shorter than that of the Challenger, and the sheetmetal was not interchangeable between the two cars. They looked a lot alike though, and no doubt shared most of the underpinnings.

Hey I posted this link in the other "Cuda Concept" thread...

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...tNumber=1323.1

Somebody next year will end up with this Cuda/Charger in their garage... question is for how much?
Click the link to see at least 3 other good pics of it also.

Got to differ w/ you Badstrat. The original Challenger and Cuda's are not the same vehicle, rebadged...just try to swap fenders or quarters. Their respective existence was based upon Chrysler's earlier "sister" strategy of building similar vehicles within both Dodge & Plymouth, ala the road runner & Charger - essentailly same B-body component, but different sheetmetal, etc.

Nonethelss, look forward to this Chally or cuda (if ever) either way. I too agree the 3:92 gears are pleasant surprise!

Ahhhhhhh the Cuda always bought a premium price over the Challenger in todays market.
I am sure you will see a Cuda decal on the Challenger,,,just like a Superbee decal on the 300,0pps I mean charger........JT

Don't forget, we had GTX striping on hemi trucks not too long ago too. I'm not as hung up on that, as long as it is all within the penstar family and their is some "meat" behind using one of these hallowed names.
