Yes but chryslbus is out to kill our duplicate models. So this would seem out of the question.

 

I think Chrysler should build it; however, I much prefer the Challenger to this. The Cuda never really did that much for me, but it is apparant that it does have dare I say a "cult following." If Chrysler is going to make the investment tomake the Challenger, they might as well make the Cuda as well to utilize some economies of scale. Since the Challenger is not going to be mass produced, offering the Cuda as well is actually a safe move that each could reach their own market place without over producing either model during these days of higher fuel prices. I just hope they use different interior than the LX interior and use something other than that flag for the symbol. They really ought to bring back Plymouth (even though I know it'll probably happen when H#!! freezes over).

 

Do we actually have confirmation that the Challenger is not going to be mass produced? I know the initial production run is going to be low volume SRT but the insider information I've read indicates larger volume lower price for the following MY.

As for a 'Cuda, someone asked about it during a chat session w/ SRT engineers and their response essentially went something like "don't get your hopes up". I don't know if that response was specifically in reference to the 'Cuda pictured in this thread, or if it was in reference to the possibility of a 'Cuda in general... but look at it this way: Chrysler ponied up the Challenger partially in response to the uproar over the Charger sedan, so why are we already demanding a 'Cuda resurrection? I personally liked the early 70s Cuda w/ sharktooth grille and smoother bodymuch better than the Challenger, but I'd say one variant is enough for now. Even if they do offer a rebadged Challenger w/ special trim and goodies as a 'Cuda, it would utilize the same platform and would really be more-or-less the same car. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I just don't understand this anticipation and expectation of a 'Cuda so soon. If they domake a 'Cuda bodystyle option, great! But if not, the Challenger is mighty fine as-is.

That wouldn't be too much of a surprise given the way they've re-used other vintage names. But the reality is, "appearance package" wouldn't be too far off the mark when you get right down to it. The Cuda that most people would like to see reborn is going to be a Challenger with slightly different sheetmetal, would it not? Anything else would by definition end up being a drastically different vehicle, and then there'll be another uproar like the Charger debacle. So whether it's marketed as its own model lineup, or whether it's marketed as an appearance package, it's still going to be a Challenger with different sheetmetal and options.

If there's a strong enough business case to make a separateCuda model, then go for it. But they don't even know how well the Challenger is going to sell yet.

 

besides having a duplicate car either branded different or otherwise has a way of dragging a bit more profit out of a platform usually by just changing the front and rear bumper facias and a slightly different interior. Like with the 300 the charger and the magnum have both monopolized upon the same platform and if the challenger actually does end up coming into production it too will help squeeze a bit more out of the same line of parts.

They may have to do it in order to make the plaform profitable enough just to bring it out... and I know I for one would like to see the Challenger make it after all this time I have been waiting for it to get here and now we are so close to it that it might not make it here at all..

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying... are you suggesting that they might have to offer a Cuda to make the Challenger line cost effective?

Funny you mention the 300 and Charger.The next generation of those models are rumored to be on theChallenger platform, so the Challenger will have already have two stablemates. I seriously doubt they will have to produce a Cuda to save the Challenger.

i dont know how they know for sure what is going to happen with the 2011 model...

i dont know why everyone gets worked up over 3.92s...those are like highway gears as far as im concerned...they need to offer a 4.10 or bigger for those who are actually going to drive the car the way that it is meant to be driven.
